CONCEPT DESIGN
An architectural imagination extended to a social one. In this imagination, a gigantic office building, a common way for chaebols (tycoons if translated into English, but much more powerful ones in South Korea) to show off their power over the society, is shared with small or micro businesses.
According to current laws, the lobby of such buildings should be accessed by the public. But in reality it is only for the company staff and their clients. Sometimes it is heavily guarded or even barricaded. In this imagination, the lobby is a public office whose infrastructure is provided by the company that owns the building. For its size, the lobby could contain individual offices and meeting rooms besides service areas such as receptions, toilets, staircases, and elevators for upper floors.
Since this is an imagination, Mor Ro planted a tree in the middle of the lobby. It is not just a symbolic element of the social symbiosis but also a measure to keep the environment inside the building clean and sound.
